ABOUT BARNEY

Who's This Barney Guy?

Barney has always been fascinated by the spoken word and the voice artist's craft. Even as a young child he regularly devoured audiobooks, taking weekly trips to the local library to borrow cassette tapes and CDs gallore, revelling in the talent of great artists such as Nigel Planer, Kerry Shale, Pete Bradbury and Stephen Fry. There was never any doubt that he would one day follow in their footsteps.

Barney has a lot to thank his Dad for, because it's with him that the joy of story telling truly began. Every night, just before bed, Barney would be treated to a rendition of one of the classic Greek mythology stories. Barney must have been the only ever six year old who got thoroughly over-excited to be told it was bed time.

The love of story telling only deepened as Barney got older culminating with him going to train at the prestigious Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA), one of London's top drama colleges. There Barney honed his skill in all fields of performance, earning a full BA with honours in Acting and graduating out into the wider performance world in 2013. Since graduation he has performed in some of Britain's best known and loved theatres in a variety of pieces and styles, has been lucky enough to act in several feature films, work as a professional roleplayer with clients such as the Department for Work and Pensions, The General Medical Council and several Northern universities, and most importantly he started his very own voice over business.

Barney's journey to becoming a fully fledged voice artist truly began when he undertook further training with voice over industry veteran Guy Michaels on the widely acclaimed Voiceover Kickstart programme. To keep his skills in top condition he also regularly trains with the Gravy For The Brain organisation run by the legendary Hugh Edwards.

Now a full time voice artist, working out of his purpose built home studio in Greater Manchester, Barney has voiced projects for clients around the globe including some household names such as Fiat, Credit Suisse, The University of Cambridge, Haven Holidays, Think Insurance, Perry’s Motor Sales LTD, Lawsons, CheckMOT, Wally and Wiz, Balton Sound Festival, Social Films, Entertain Me UK, Spectre LED, AuraTours and the medical organisation Health Care Futurists based in the EU.
